Princess Vivi Nefertari
Alabasta Dress
One Piece
My husband and I like to watch One Piece on Saturday nights (dub, I know,
I know). A couple years ago, I picked up a One Piece pencil board at a convention
with Princess Vivi in a belly dancer-ish outfit on it, mentally filing it
away for possible future cosplay.
Loving the Seiyuu for Luffy, Mayumi Tanaka, I got interested in making this
again, partially as a CosWorx project. Almost every single thing used in
this costume either is available or will be in the store. The wig, fabric,
eyelashes and other things... all CosWorx. The beads and flipflops are my
own :)
Mondo Mega FUN FACT- The original design doesn't have any of the beads,
but I couldn't resist adding some sparklies to it. The neckline was actually
beaded in between boxing up wig orders. If anyone accedentally got any renegade
pink bugle beads, that's why :)
Note about the eyebrows. Naturally I have crazy ugly Groucho Marx looking
eyebrows, but I have a bad nervous habit of pulling and plucking them out,
so most people don't know. I got them blue by using colored mascara and brushing
it in with an eyebrow grooming brush. It works out great even though my eyebrows
are very dark. I think this type was by Caboodles (from my Shiva costume),
but Stargazer makes a great one that's more theatre quality. I'll probably
use that type next time to get a richer color.
The wig is a Linda XXL wig in color 60 colored with my secret mad scientist
recipe to get Vivi's crazy manga shade of blue. In case anyone is curious,
the Linda (and its cousin, Alicia) wigs dye amazingly well. Needless to say,
I love how this wig turned out and how it makes my eyes look so blue!
So, it's a face shot for now while I look at the other pictures Joshua took.
I'm a little self conscious because all the girls in One piece have something
like 12 inch waists.
The best part about this costume is I can go around saying I'm a pretty
pirate princess. WIN.
