Another product of playing too much Final Fantasy, I was smitten by this summon of Garnet's in Final Fantasy 9. Her appearance was so brief, but I knew I wanted to make this, of all Shivas.

There are over 1000 crystal rhinestnes on this costume as well as dozens of beads. I was lucky enough to find a small lot of vintage stones faceted in a snowflake top pattern, which someone informed me were crafted from Depression Glass. Pretty neat stuff.

The wig and shoes on this evolved with each wearing. Originally, I just had my wig in a ponytail, then I added extentions for Ani-Magic. Eventually, those extentions became braided and beaded by the time I wore it to Katsukon 2002. The shoes were originally plain clear heeled mules, which were traded in for clear crystal accented pumps after ani-magic.

To this day, it remains one of my favorite costumes.
