Lady Oscar
Rose of Versailles
This is one of the last cosplays I thought I'd do. I'm so not an Otokoyaku even though I love them :)
Everyone was off at Comic Con, which I couldn't go to this year, and found myself bored. I decided to see if I could make something entirely out of materials I had on hand, and bonus if it could be something unlike my usual fare. Lady Oscar- I love her so much, but it IS a bit outside of the box for me.
I am a fan of Takarazuka as well, so I took some elements in that direction, too. Most notably is the pattern on the pants. Using the blue Chinese brocade just lent itself to a Takarazuka-ish direction anyway.
So, in the end I spent about ten bucks on this costume, which was the plastic sword and red jewels.
Where the stuff was from:
Blue brocade - the last of the leftover fabric from the Kiseki no Kane angels (streeeetch)
Blue satin lining- leftover from the revue suits
Gold swirl brocade- Sun Faerie
Epaulette trims- Seramyu Venus
Wig- Galaxia (Yep, this is what it looks like down!)
Boots- What I had on hand
other things- stuff I had in various bins in the sewing room.
Cosplaying Oscaruuu is so much fun! I can't wait to wear this to a con!
For the record, I very much look forward to doing a DuBarry costume, she IS more my style afterall;
