Before I wear a costume at a convention,
I never feel it is complete until I can put it all on and take some test
pictures. This also helps me with nerves at the con itself. I tend to get
a little scared that I don't look okay. This is especially important for
complicated costumes like Hexe. There's so many little parts and fiddly bits
to this one! Embroidery everywhere! Today, I finally put it all on, makeup
and everything so I could see how long it takes to get ready and note any
special concerns so I can be prepared for the time to wear it. I can't get
dressed by myself in this! The buns eat my perepheral vision and actually
change my balance some. It is quite funny to walk around in. Underneath it
all, I'm wearing a full corset, the same one I did for Duchess Montzette.
This keeps me secure (and a little uncomfortable) so the armor plate stays
in place correctly. You can't see, but the wig is fully rooted in the back
and all the highlights are done with Kanekalon hair. No caulk was used- everything
was hand rooted and tied/sewn. This took FOREVER, but the wig is soft and
breathes in the back- a need because I have so much natural hair to start
with and I knew I'd be wearing this in the Summer. For anyone wondering,
the wig took several weekends of rooting and a lot of paitence. The base
wig was a CosWorx MISTY in white, but after everything I've done to it, you'd
never be able to tell. Same from CosWorx are the boots and I love love love
them. The tops were added to be accurate to the character. Now that the costume
is pretty much DONE (there's a couple little invisible things to tend to),
I can relax a little and take the time to pack it up nicely for when I wear
it with my HCC girls. It has been a journey and I'm rather proud of this
costume. I have learned so much from this one!
