Site HistoryBack in 2000, this site started as goldenquartz.com, a name paying homage to the gemstone citrine, the orangey-gold form of quartz crystal. It housed costume photos, a blog, a message board and even some light convention coverage. It was a fun site and one filled with lots of happy memories. It was coded myself in notepad with Netscape composer for laying out the color schemes. Goldenquartz lived until early 2003 when it was taken down for renovations. Unfortunately, during this time, there was a hard drive crash on my end resulting in the loss of a lot of content. Then, the domain registration lapsed and is out of my hands to this day (the current owner demands over $10,000 for the name, can you believe that?). In the meantime, I acquired both tristencitrine.com and tristine.com and vowed to bring the site back soon. Over the years, “Tristen Citrine” has been put into the contraction, “Tristine”, so I let it stick. “Tristen Citrine” can be a bit of a tongue twister for some people. Mondo Mega Fun Fact: “Trystine” is a gemstone, another name for Ametrine, a stone that is a blend of Amethyst and Citrine. Isn’t that cool? Weeks quickly turned to months and years as life got busy. Brief costume updates got relegated to my Live Journal and Cosplay.com accounts. My dear friends Mara and AJ offered to help rebuild the site you see here. All the cool bells and whistles are because of them, as I have worked mostly on costume info and tutorials. There was a lot of content to recover in addition to all the works made since Goldenquartz went down. It was very daunting and has been in serious rebuild mode for about a year (starting in 2004 and really ramping up in 2006). Mara and AJ are super awesome for bringing the sitey back to the internet with much orangey gusto and I appreciate it dearly. This site’s purpose is to not only be a pretty comprehensive archive of personal works, but a good resource for those who enjoy costuming. Just because Goldenquartz went away doesn’t mean I have gone away! This citrus will be here for a long time, so enjoy the site and feel free to tell me what you think! |
